LOD, Laboratory for Dynamic Olfactometry
LOD is a university spin-off company set up in 2007 and is located at the Science and Technology Park “Luigi Danieli” in Udine.
LOD, before becoming a spin-off, from 2002 to 2007 was part of Friuli Innovazione, a consortium of the University of Udine which provides a platform for enhancing and promoting research and technology transfer.
In those 4 years the activity of LOD developed in Italy and abroad using the Dynamic Olfactometry, the method which allows to measure odour in conformity with the EN 13725 standard; the standard was drawn up by the European Union through the Commité Européen de Normalisation, its technical organization for standardization.
The olfactometry standard was entertained in Italy in 2004 as UNI EN 13725: it describes the dynamic olfactometric method with the purpose of “standardize the objective measure of the concentration and the flow rate of odour emitted from punctual and areal sources”.
Our Laboratory allows the analysis and the study of odours originated from any kind of process.
